HOW DO I KNOW MY UPHOLSTERY IS DIRTY ?
OIL and GREASE – Body oils from both humans and animals attach and hold onto your upholstery fabric. Hair and hand oils are easily transferred to the head cushions and arm rests of the furniture and can cause series damage to your soft furnishings..
ATMOSPHERIC SOILS – Consider the dust that builds up on a coffee table or desk over a weeks time. This same dust is being deposited onto your upholstery. In addition to the pollution you add cooking oils and atmospheric pollution that is present, to some degree in all homes.
COMMON SOILS – These soils include the common dirt being tracked in from outside along with sand/soil and fibres from gardening etc.. These are brought into the home by adults, kids and pets.
DYES and INKS – The inks from newsprint in newspapers can readily be transmitted onto soft furnishings. The direct ink from a leaky pen or the aspiring toddler artist should not be forgotten.
WE OPERATE A FOUR STAGE PROCESS AS OUTLINED BELOW
1: Your soft furnishing will be tested for colour fastness
2: Vacuumed using a hepa filtration system that removes 99.97% of airborne pollutants out of your upholstery.
3: Your soft furnishings will be cleaned and an anti-static treatment applied using the Dry Fusion cleaning system
4: The final stage is the grooming of your upholstery pile to ensure a perfect finish
THE BENEFITS OF REGULAR VACUUMING
The reason householders should regularly vacuum their soft furnishings? Is due to numerous factors for example, daily vacuuming is more important than interim deep cleaning methods because dry soil is abrasive; when ground into your soft furnishings, it cuts into the fibres of the furnishings dulling appearance and reducing the longevity. Another reason is that according to research dust is a carrier of other health threatening pollutants such as pollen, hair flakes, residue from cleaning chemicals and household products, decaying organic matter, dust mites, bacteria, fungi, viruses, and a variety of other contaminants.
Further research evidence using “NASA” x ray fluorescence technology indicates that by pre vacuuming soft furnishings the amount of debris and soil removal is nearly the same as water extraction methods alone. Further research evidence suggests that water extraction alone can be detrimental to soft furnishings because it turns the pollutants that live in the soft furnishings into sludge making it harder to remove and in some instances leaving the soft furnishings wetter for longer, with more residual dirt left behind due to poor airflow on the water extraction machines being used. Airflow can be reduced due to the big changes in the construction of floor covering fabrics over the last few years; most notably commercial and domestic coverings have become shorter, because of the denser packed pile.
CLEANING FOR A HEALTHY HOME OR WORK ENVIRONMENT
Cleaning for appearance removes “big” visible soil which gives the impression to the householder or business owner that their premises are clean, rather than cleaning for health that removes “small” invisible bacteria, dust and airborne particulates and other micro, bio and chemical contaminates that research indicates are largely the contributors to unhealthy indoor environments.
Poor cleaning procedures, equipment and habits can inhibit the effective cleaning of buildings and whilst vacuum cleaning removes some fungus and spores from carpeting, without correct “Hepa” filtration this type of vacuuming it also reintroduces them to the air either through the action of the vacuum’s beater bar or through conventional bags. Therefore vacuuming without proper filtration is one of the main causes of the reintroduction of allergens and harmful particles into the air.
At my family business we only use “ProTeam” vacuums. ProTeam vacuums capture soil and safely contain harmful particles, as well as preventing them from being reintroduced back into the environment. The improved air quality is the result of ProTeam vacuums’ unique Three or Four-Level Filtration system. This system captures tiny dust mites, bacteria, and other particles, research indicates more than 99% of dust, soil and other pollutants measuring one micron (one-millionth of a meter) and larger which can cause unhealthy air.
